Our Bags of Hope Program
Our goal is to raise $30,000 to help cover the operating costs of our Bags of Hope Program! This program provides a customized bag of quality clothing, with seven to ten outfits and basic hygiene products, to extremely vulnerable individuals and families throughout our community for free.
The need is tremendous! Requests to Sharia's Closet for emergency clothing and hygiene kits increased by 80% in the last year, averaging 60-70 requests per day.
Our Impact
We have compiled 6,095 bags in the 2024 calendar year. Our impact has grown from serving 19 individuals in 2013 to 48,906 over the last ten years. We are honored to help our community by partnering with over 200 organizations.
Each day we are filling our Bags of Hope with love, empowerment, and confidence during a time of need. Our clients are equipped with the necessary clothing to secure a new job, have fun stylish outfits, and hygiene kits to care for themselves.
Our need for service is immense. Since we are a primarily volunteer-run organization, we rely heavily on donations. Make a difference today!
National Community Action Month
Created by Community Action Partnership, May is National Community Action Month. In May, organizations are encouraged to share their stories, promote work, emphasize impact, and showcase successes. This was created to help low-income families achieve economic stability through organizations that help people and change lives.
Why we're participating - Clothing promotes empowerment, confidence, and a new sense of purpose. Clothing helps secure a job, which transforms the lives of our clients. The needs of our community are immense and continue to grow daily. Each client comes in and has their own unique story and needs. We must continue to fund our Bags of Hope Program because our clients rely heavily on it.
